Prof. Dr. Syed Arsalan Jawed

Principal Investigator PI

Dr. Arsalan did his PhD in analog/mixed-signal Integrated Circuit (IC) design from University of Trento, Italy in 2009. He is currently HOD Avionics at PAFKIET and the Director of Electronic Devices, Circuits and Systems Research Group. He has worked with reputed organization such as ST Microelectronics, Analog Devices, NESCOM, Open-Silicon, EFABLESS and KACST. He has published more than 30 papers in ISI indexed journals and peer-reviewed international conferences. He holds two patents and several other patents are being reviewed by USPTO. He has been actively involved in establishing international collaboration at KIET with KACST-KSA, IROI-China, UAEU-AlAin, EFABLESS-USA and Ohio-State-USA. He is the Principal Investigator of ICTRnd Funded project on Monolithic CMOS Microsystems.

Fahd Khan

Technical Team Lead

Analog Circuit Design Engineer at EDCAS research group, having 5 years of experience working on CMOS technologies including 40nm, 55nm and 65nm, designing circuits ranging from Baseband Filters, LDOs and Dual Modulus Pre-scalers. Also experience in designing RF Power amplifier with 25dBm output power and working knowledge of low noise 10 GHz PLL. Additional experience in PCB designing and RF testing.  He has experience in working at the cutting-edge RF CMOS technology having worked with high profile industry customers such as Microchip and LG electronics.

 Muhammad Aaquib Shahbaz

Senior Full-time Researcher and Developer

 Analog mixed signal IC design and Layout engineer with around 3 years working experience. During this period, have worked on deep submicron CMOS technology including 45nm, 65nm & 180nm TSMC, 55nm Global Foundry and 110nm & 150nm L-Foundry. Experienced in completing several complete design cycles including; architecture study, the design of RF/ Analog/Mixed Signal cells, layout of critical cells as well as the evaluation and testing of prototypes.

Syed Usman Amin

Masters Student

As an electronics engineer, I have almost 1 year of industrial work experience as design engineer including internships in various organization including working at PAC-KAMRA. I have been competent and proactive in finding solutions to intricate problems throughout my undergrad years and got many academics distinctions. I have designed a low power CMOS based temperature sensor on Cadence Virtuoso as my final year project. Currently, I am a member of EDCAS group at PAF-KIET as Postgraduate Research Assistant. There I was involved in designing and implementing a Vaccine Monitoring IC Test setup also I have designed and implemented a Gas pipeline leakage detection system.

Zain Hussain Warsi

Research Associate

A Mechatronics Engineer and a Gold medalist from PAF-KIET, Karachi in 2017 with skillful concepts in the field of Digital and Analog Electronic Circuit Design, Mechanics, Automation, Robotics and Cognitive Systems. Associated with EDCAS research group since 2015 with a 2.5 years’ experience as a Research Assistant, in reviewing and Designing of Microelectromechanical Systems and Analog Integrated Circuit Design. Experienced working on Deep-Submicron CMOS technology of 150nm L-foundry for IC designing and the Mechanical Design of Three Axes Single Proof Mass MEMS Accelerometer and the feasibility studies for Wireless Sensor Network Multi-Sensor Fusion for Structural, Chemical and Bio hazards with one research paper publication at undergraduate level. Has Hands on experience on the latest CAD tools for MEMS and IC design such as Cadence Virtuoso, Coventor’s MEMS+.
